Weddings

Chapel Information

Time of rehearsal must be pre-arranged with the Canterbury Wedding Coordinator.

Only certified minister/clergy will be allowed to perform the wedding ceremony.

Name of minister/clergy performing service should be given to the Canterbury Wedding Coordinator two weeks prior to wedding.

Decorating time of chapel will be assessed on an individual basis.

Rose petals (real and silk) are allowed to be thrown down aisle.

Altar in chapel must remain in current position.

All crosses and religious symbols may not be altered in anyway.

Catering Information

All receptions are served buffet style.

Hors d’oeuvres served only as a complement to the meal.

The name of the baker providing the cake must be given to the Canterbury Wedding Coordinator two weeks prior to the event.

Canterbury staff will serve the cake to the guests for no additional cost.

Servers to bus tables are supplied for all receptions.

All prepared food must be supplied by Canterbury Retreat Center.

With the exception of the wedding cake, mints, nuts and candy party favors, The customer or guests cannot remove food from the premises.

With the exception of the wedding cake food or beverage of any kind brought by any of the patron’s guests or invitees will not be permitted.
(Health Department and insurance issues)

The buffet serving time will be determined two weeks before banquet and is obligatory in order to assure top quality food service.

    • Assorted Mini Quiche $2.00 per person. Spinach, Lorraine, Herb Cheese, Cajun Shrimp.

    • Spinach Filo Dough $2.00 per person. Puff pastry filled with spinach

Beverage Information

The wedding party must provide all alcoholic and/or soda beverages.
Bottled beer, wine and champagne only.

Canterbury staff will serve the champagne or wine for toast for no additional cost.

A professional bartender is mandatory when serving alcoholic beverages.

Canterbury will provide a professional bartender for an additional fee of $200.00.

Proper ID is required. Those without proper ID will not be served.

Those caught bringing in liquor will be escorted off the premises.

Any minor caught with an alcoholic beverage will cause the bar to be shut down immediately.

Alcohol is only allowed in the reception room and back patio.

No alcohol will be allowed if the bride and groom are under 21


DJ Information

The name of the DJ must be given to Canterbury Wedding Coordinator as soon as possible.

The DJ is to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner with no drinking of alcoholic beverage allowed.

Music played is to be on a professional level, fitting for a wedding reception. Tunes with inappropriate language or dancing jesters may not be played and will cause the party to be shut down immediately.

Bridal Package $1,250.00. (Includes)

  • Banquet Room (4 hours)

  • Chapel (1 hour)

  • 2 lodging rooms for one night

Banquet Room Rental $750.00 (4 hours)

Catering See attached menus

Service Charge 18% of Catering Charges

Lodging Rental $50.00 - per Lodging Room per night

Banquet Room Rental fee includes the following:

  • Flatware and China

  • Glassware: Water Goblet, Coffee cups, Wine glasses, Champagne flutes

  • Linen: White linen tablecloths, White linen napkins, and White linen table skirts

  • Limited decorations and table set-up/breakdown.


General Banquet Information

All banquets will last no longer than four hours or midnight, whichever comes first.

All buildings are non-smoking buildings. Smoking containers are available outside on the back dining deck.

Deposit of $500.00 is due with the signed contract and is needed to guarantee the reservation.

Canterbury reserves the right to terminate any reception, banquet, or party in the event guests’ behavior becomes inappropriate.

The wedding party is financially responsible for any damage to Canterbury property beyond normal usage.

Canterbury will not assume any responsibility for the damage or loss of any merchandise or articles left at the retreat center before, during, or after your banquet.

Bubbles and birdseed are allowed, outside only. Please no rice; it can harm the animals.

Set-up / Decoration Information

Wedding party will provide a decorator to decorate the guest tables. (i.e. centerpieces, party favors).

No glitter, confetti, or silly string permitted.

Decorating time will be two hours prior to contracted start time or assessed on an individual basis which ever is earlier.

Canterbury will be responsible to decorate cake table, buffet table, alcove areas and provide 6 silk fichus trees with white lights.

A white light and toile ceiling piece is available to rent for $25.00. This piece goes over the dance floor.

Additional services available:

Canterbury Staff decorating tables $10.00 per table with decorations provided by party.

Table Decorations $20.00 per table includes:

  • Centerpiece Bowl, 12”x12” mirror, floating candle (color of wedding or white, which ever is available),

  • 2 votive holders & candles

  • All decorative items (i.e. gifts, center pieces, etc.) must leave the evening of the event.

  • Floral Tablecloths

  • Christmas Themed Centerpieces

  • Special Event set-up and breakdown of tables

  • Catering menus will be determined from Canterbury’s cycle menus.


Service Charge is optional.
If no service charge is agreed upon and applied,
guests will be responsible for taking food and trays back to kitchen when finished.
