Teresa
Harrison of Jacksonville, Florida, will
be teaching iconography, called icon
writing even though it is a painting
process. Teresa will offer
opportunities for “a wondrous, intense
connection with the God of Love, the
Creator.” She will introduce ancient
Greek and Russian styles.
This is
a beginner course which experienced
iconographers will also find rewarding.
This six-day retreat includes the
Eucharist, Gregorian chant, praying
with icons, readings, silence as well
as lively group conversation, free time
and social hours. Icons will be written
in Jo Sonia acrylic paint and gold
leaf, a medium which most closely
resembles the traditional egg tempera.
The cost of materials is included in
the fee.
Class size limited to
20 persons.
Harrison
is a lifelong Episcopalian who has been
writing icons for 13 years and leading
workshops at St. John’s Cathedral,
Jacksonville and area churches for
several years. She has studied with
master iconographers Phillip Zimmerman
and Ksenia Pokrovsky. She has also
taught at churches and retreat centers
in North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois,
Florida and New York.
